    Peace Symbol Origin

    The peace symbol designed by artist Gerald Holtom for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in 1958.
    Holtom was inspired by flag semaphore used for communication at sea using signalmen holding flags. Modern semaphore include signals for each letter of the alphabet. Holtom used the signals for “N” (Nuclear) and “D” (Disarmament) and juxtaposed them over a circle to create the modern symbol for peace.

    Hebrew Priests seen above doing the Priestly Blessing (ברכת כהנים), a sign of benediction also known as the raising of the hands, or priestly benediction.
    Like the pyramid sign and its derivatives (ex: Jay Z’s Roc Sign) the sign is made by holding your hands out with you palms facing outwards and your index fingers and thumbs touching at the tip. However, you also have to leave a space between the middle and ring fingers in order to make the the Priestly Blessing gesture.
    Star Trek’s Spock used the sign using a single hand for the now-famous Vulcan Salute usually accompanied by the even more famous phrase, “Live long and prosper.”

    Kleenex is a a brand of tissue owned by Kimberly-Clark, an American multinational. The Kleenex brand is so famous that it is often used a a generic name for tissues in the United States and Canada. Some have speculated that the Number of the Beast, 666, is hidden in the company’s logo.
